Circumstances for Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
Site
Visitation
Special Circumstances
for MOU’s
Plot locations and ownership information
can only be given out if a Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) has been acquired
by the requestor. MOU’s are extremely difficult
to obtain and can only be given out by:
a: If the research involved, shows a clear benefit to the
mission statement of FIA and the USDA Forest Service (these
research must clearly benefit FIA).
b: To be determined “Special Circumstances” for
an MOU by SRS FIA Project Manager, Bill Burkman.
Then and only then, will plot location or
ownership information be handed out.
Site Visitation
Plot
locations and ownership information can be used by the requestor
at SDS/FIA offices in Knoxville. Southern Research
Station, FIA Spatial Data Services will work with customers
who would like to more directly utilize the FIA plot
location and ownership information. We will attempt to provide the customer
with a workspace, computer and GIS software access, and information on lodging
and transportation. Any customer coming into direct contact with the plot location
and ownership information will be under supervision of SDS staff at all times,
and will be forbidden from creating a copy of plot information for any use
outside of the building. Requestor’s will leave with only a summary of
needed
information for their research and not with plot location or ownership information.
Requests for site visits will be evaluated
based on space availability and the availability of SDS
staff, and will
be subject to the same procedures identified above under ‘Data
Request Procedures’. To make a formal request for visitation,
